徐元文（1634—1691），字公肃，号立斋， 江苏昆山人。官职文华殿大学士、翰林院掌院学士，擅长书法、学术，常自己动手勘校书籍，著有《含经堂集》《得树园诗集》等。徐元文家学很好，舅舅是大儒顾炎武。他中进士后，皇帝亲自在乾清门召见他，还启奏皇太后说：“今岁得一佳状元。”被赐予冠带、蟒服，授翰林院修撰。接下来补国史院修撰，累迁至国子监祭酒，充经筵讲官。“闲雅方重，音吐宏畅，进讲辄称旨”。当时大学士熊赐履在讲筵，重点讲述孔、孟、程、朱之道，皇帝想博览前代得失之由，命词臣以通鉴与四书参讲。徐元文就取朱子纲目，“择其事之系主德、裨治道者，采取先儒之说，参以臆断，演绎发挥，按期进讲。”他在做祭酒时，规条严肃。对满洲子弟 管教很严，周围的人都很佩服他。在学术上，徐元文历任《孝经衍义》、《政治训典》、《方略》、《一统志》总裁。《明史》的纂修成书，是清朝官方史学的一件大事。对此，徐元文作出了重要的贡献。他在先后两次担任《明史》馆监修总裁期间，为《明史》的纂修成功起到了创始奠基的作用。他曾举荐李清、黄宗羲、曹溶、汪懋麟、黄虞稷、姜宸英、万言等入史馆，不至者，录所著书以上。

近期我公司征集了一件文轩阁歙砚（徐元文雅玩）紫檀盒，典藏尺寸长210mm、宽74.7mm。此砚为端石所制，长方形。砚石通体紫黑，纯色无暇，石质莹润细腻，造型简洁素雅，古朴厚重。砚台配有紫檀木天地盖，颇为考究，整体形致典雅，落落大方。此砚刻有銘文“回乐峰前沙似雪，受降城外月如霜。不知何处吹芦管，一夜征人尽望乡。”。砚台嵌于紫檀木天地盖中，藏者于盒盖镌铭文“康熙十六年贡品—康熙御览贡品，文轩阁——徐元文雅玩”。记述了这方紫端砚的流传渊源，及藏者对这方端砚的爱惜珍重之情。本次藏品为研究明清时期砚雕艺术与美学、历史文化之间关系提供了重要参考价值，是不可多得的珍稀之品。
