范曾，字十翼，别署抱冲斋主1938年生于江苏南通，中国书画大师、著名国学家、诗人。现为北京大学教授、北京大学中国画法研究院院长，英国格拉斯哥大学名誉文学博士，中国艺术研究院博士生导师、终身研究员，南开大学终身教授、南开大学文学院、历史学院博士生导师，南通大学终身教授。2008年获法兰西国民之星金质勋章。2009年被联合国教科文组织任命为“多元文化特别顾问”。2010年9月，法国总统萨科齐向范曾先生授予“法国荣誉军团骑士勋章”。2022年，被正式授予了“国际奥委会主席杯奖”。
《老子出关图》是范曾最擅长的绘画题材，画中的老子，白发飘然，襟带倏然，稳如山岳，又似乎全无重量，身形飘渺，又宛若就在眼前。此般风骨，何等清新宕逸、遒举俊发；范曾笔下的老子，形象透着一股仙风道骨之气，老子衣纹以有力的线条勾勒而成，洒脱的大气。带路的小童脸上洋溢着笑容，衣纹的处理颇具动感。范曾自作篆书题字，结字严谨宽博，用笔苍劲有力，为各幅作品都平添了古朴气息。荣宝57期艺术精品拍卖会2008年在亚洲大酒店落槌，其中范曾的一幅《老子出关》以57.2万元成交，创下该场拍卖的最高价。
Born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in 1938, Fan Zeng is a master of Chinese painting and calligraphy, a famous nationalist and poet. He is now a professor of Peking University, Dean of the Chinese Painting Academy of Peking University, Honorary Doctor of Letters of the University of Glasgow, doctoral supervisor and tenured researcher of the Chinese Academy of Arts, tenured professor of Nankai University, doctoral supervisor of the School of Literature and History of Nankai University, and tenured professor of Nantong University. In 2008 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the French National Star. In 2009, he was appointed as a "Special Adviser on Multiculturalism" by UNESCO. In September 2010, French President Nicolas Sarkozy awarded Mr. Van Zen the "Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France". In 2022, it was officially awarded the "IOC President's Cup Award".
"Laozi Out of Customs" is Fan Zeng's best painting subject, the painting of Laozi, white hair flowing, flapping, stable mountains, and seems to be weightless, ethereal body, and as if in front of. The Roebo 57 Fine Art auction fell in 2008 at the Asia Hotel, where a painting by Fan Zeng called "Laozi's Exit" was sold for 572,000 yuan, setting the highest price of the auction.

近期我公司征集了一幅范曾的《老子出关》，长136cm、宽70cm。本次藏品画面中老子闭目神思、骑牛出关，旁边有一个稚拙无邪的村童作他的书仆，背着几卷《道德经》和饮水的葫芦；老子则素衣布鞋，须眉皓如积雪，头发披散，不着巾帻，他微微地欠着腰，半睁半闭着那双洞察天地古今的慧目，寂然凝虑，悄焉动容。在线条运用上，范曾运用了国画钩线技法中“钉头鼠尾”的技法，线条苍劲有力，充满生命力。此画用笔极为简练，浓墨勾衣纹，轻巧明快；淡墨勾人物脸部，细腻生动。在设色上极其稳重，寥寥几笔灰色调的着色处理，使画面呈现出淡雅的色调，极其符合老子出关题材的人物氛围，同时老子的着衣留白更加突出了老子飘飘欲仙、不与世争的人物特点。墨是混沌万象，线是思接千古。计白当黑，紫气东来，伯阳五千文，化作先贤容颜。老子虽犹龙，此刻，他未乘风云而上九天。他从历史的烟尘中走来，足音响彻函谷关内外。
