Boutique Recommendation - Copper Xuanwu Pair

Xuanwu, also known as Turtle and Snake, is one of the Four Spirits of Heaven in ancient Chinese mythology. It originated from the worship of ancient constellations and refers to the northern Xuanwu Seven Constellations, which are divided into four categories according to southeast, northwest, and northwest.

Xuanwu is a spiritual object composed of turtles and snakes. In traditional Chinese culture, the four elephants refer to the green dragon, white tiger, vermilion sparrow, and Xuanwu, representing four directions: east, west, north, south. The northern Xuanwu is based on the Eight Trigrams as a ridge, and the Five Elements as the main water, symbolizing the old yin in the Four Elephants, the winter in the four seasons, and also the northern land of the sky.

Turtles and snakes were considered spiritual beasts in ancient China, symbolizing longevity. Before the Han Dynasty, nobles often wore jade turtle pendants. In Japan, influenced by ancient China, turtle patterns were commonly used in naming and making emblem designs. Divide the twenty eight constellations into four groups, namely the Eastern Canglong Seven Constellations, the Northern Xuanwu Seven Constellations, the Western White Tiger Seven Constellations, and the Southern Zhuque Seven Constellations. The ancestors regarded dragons as the chief of scale insects, phoenixes as the king of birds, tigers as the chief of beasts, and turtles as the king of scale insects. The four are collectively referred to as the Four Spirits. Turtles have been a symbol of longevity since ancient times. This has a huge attraction for emperors and generals who pursue immortality, so people often carve jade pendants with patterns of Xuanwu and wear them on their waist or neck for longevity and safety. Not only that, the artistic image of Xuanwu is also widely used in other places, often appearing in the decoration of various handicrafts such as bronze mirrors, lacquerware, stone carvings, bricks and tiles.

Our company has recently recruited a pair of "Copper Xuanwu" This object is made of refined copper and has superb relief techniques. It is lifelike, vivid, and exquisitely decorated, making it an excellent collection. The texture of the turtle body and the patterns on its back are neat and clear, very realistic, and it is the image of Xuanwu, one of the four gods. The four gods originated from the worship of the universe by ancient Chinese people. As early as the Yin and Shang dynasties, the ancient people divided the starry sky into 28 constellations, called the Twenty Eight Constellations. Among them, the stars in the south, resembling a large bird, are called the Twenty Eight Constellations The stars in the east resemble a dragon and are called Qinglong, while the stars in the west resemble a tiger and are called Baihu. The Big Dipper in the north evolved into the image of Xuanwu.

Xuanwu has the feng shui function and meaning of calming and protecting the house, reducing evil spirits, and attracting wealth and prosperity in feng shui. Therefore, many people will place Xuanwu in their homes to enhance feng shui fortune, reduce potential illnesses and obstacles in their homes, and thus enhance longevity and financial luck. This pair of 'copper basaltic' has a domineering shape and exquisite patterns, which not only have great ornamental value but also carry rich cultural connotations. Therefore, it has high collection value, and collectors who like it can place it at home or give it to others, which is a good choice.
